Below are my favorite images from January 2022. It’s always a good thing when you’re photographing football in January. That means the Bills are winning and I’m getting work. Most of the football images below are for Getty Images. The photo of Kyle Pitts (8) of the Atlanta Falcons stiff-arming Buffalo Bills’ Micah Hyde (23) was for the Atlanta Falcons. This image is when Pitts became the second rookie tight-end to surpass 1000 receiving yards. This hasn’t been done since Mike Ditka did it in 1961.
I also was fortunate enough to freeze and photograph the Bills and Patriots AFC Wild Card, which ended up being the third coldest NFL game in history. Man do I feel bad for the photographers at the two coldest games. I was pretty warm other than my toes and fingers. They were stinging. Yes, I had hand warmers and toe warmers. The hand warmers were great when I could use them. I photograph with gloves and there’s no room in the glove to have a hand warmer. So I would put the hand warmers in my jacket pocket and hold them when I had a free moment. The problem with this is my fingers didn’t stay warm for very long, if at all. If anyone has any good mitten recommendations that are good to use while photographing in cold weather, hit me up in the comments.
The toe warmers never activated and that was very unfortunate for me. I was also double socked with one layer being LL Bean wool socks, too. It was just cold. I was outside for a total of about 5 hours, give or take.
I did make a cool photo of ice forming on Bill Belichick’s eyebrows, though.
I also was fortunate enough to do some engagement/wedding photos for my good friend Alex and his fiance Maree! Congrats to them on getting married yesterday!
!!DISCLAIMER!! THERE IS A PHOTO WITH A DECENT AMOUNT OF BLOOD IN IT. IF THAT BOTHERS YOU, PLEASE DO NOT SCROLL DOWN!!
